Frontier Mosaic is a student-run literary magazine that serves as a forum for the creative work of OSU undergraduates. Our annual publication, released each spring, includes poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art (painting, drawing, photography, collage, etc.) Frontier Mosaic also holds readings and other events. We are looking for people who are passionate about writing, literature, and the arts, as well as those who are interested in participating in and promoting OSU’s community of student writers and artists.
Our system for reading submissions is intricate and steadily improving, but we’re still a very small organization—the magazine has just a few editors—and some things move slowly. We want very badly to discover and nurture new and developing writers. You can help us by observing the following guidelines:
Our deadline is December 31, at 12:00 AM (midnight). Please submit no more than one short story, three flash fiction manuscripts, one nonfiction manuscript, six poems, or six visual art submissions at a time (but feel free to submit in as many categories as you'd like). Be sure to include phone and e-mail contact information.
Fiction manuscripts should be sent to the attention of the Fiction Coordinator, nonfiction manuscripts should be sent to the attention of the Nonfiction Coordinator, poetry manuscripts to the Poetry Coordinator, and visual art submissions (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, collage, etc.) should be sent as digital files to the Art Coordinator at the following email addresses:
Fiction Coordinator – Alyssa Poole
frontiermosaicfiction@gmail.com
Nonfiction Coordinator – Mackenzie Tomlinson
frontiermosaicnonfiction@gmail.com
Poetry Coordinator – Hannah Keeter
frontiermosaicpoetry@gmail.com
Art Coordinator – Kaitlyn McSpadden
frontiermosaicart@gmail.com
Fiction, poetry, and nonfiction should be in any of the following formats: doc, docx, or PDF files. Please do not link to a Google Docs file - you must send one of these file types. Digital art files should be easy to open. We will contact the artist if there is a problem with the resolution or file format.
All submissions must be in English and previously unpublished. Translations are acceptable and should be accompanied by a copy of the original text. Simultaneous submissions are also acceptable as long as we are notified immediately if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere.
STYLE AND SUBJECT
We publish fiction, nonfiction, art, and poetry. There are no rules. The best way to get a sense of what we’re interested in publishing is to read the magazine.
